What is an Android TV Box?
An Android TV Box can be considered as a hybrid device between a set-top TV box (think a Sky+ box, or a TiVo box) and an Android phone, combining the form factor and connectivity options of the former, with the functionality of the latter.
If you are looking for a dedicated streaming device an Android TV box is an excellent bet. Due to the huge breath of IPTV and other content streaming apps available on both the Google Play Store and other third party repositories (such as Kodi), you’ll essentially be spoiled for choice.
Depending on what route you go for, your Android TV Box will either run the Android TV operating system, or a slightly tweaked version of the regular Android OS (optimized for larger displays). The two are similar in function, but the latter offers a greater degree of freedom with regards to customization. And it is for that reason that we at DroiX prefer it.
Android TV Boxes are also excellent as digital signage controllers, due to their ease of setting up, and relatively low power draw.
[Video] Best Android TV Boxes
We have created a short video showing some of the best Android TV boxes we have available during the DroiX Black Friday sale. Take a look below!
GS King X | Is it a NAS? Is it an Android TV Box?
The GS King X is developed by Beelink. A seasoned manufacturer of all computers on the small side size-wise. Taking many by surprise, the Beelink GS King X is essentially the penultimate form of the Android TV Box.
The first thing that will catch your eye is it’s size. It features a large upper cavity which, upon further inspection, allows the GS King X to support not one, but two full-sized HDDs. Allowing for a theoretical maximum storage of 32TB (although we doubt most people will ever reach this cap unless they’re data hoarders).
Selling point number two of the GS King X is it’s plethora of audio output options. On top of your standard 3.5mm headphone jack, there are also dedicated left/right RCA outputs, and left/right BAL (balanced) outputs. This makes it a perfect fit for audio enthusiasts with non-standard setups.
The brain of the GS King X is the Amlogic S922X-H SoC (system-on-a-chip). This SoC utilizes six cores to achieve a maximum frequency of 2.2GHz, allowing it to not only decode high-quality 4K video without skipping a beat, but also to play games (particularly emulators) if the user wishes.
For those who find that the built-in HDD bay isn’t enough, there are also four USB 3.0 ports as well as a microSD card slot. If you set your mind to it, the GS King X is an absolute storage powerhouse.

Beelink GT King Pro | The Best High-end Box
The GT King Pro is a favourite android tv box of us here at DroiX for a number of reasons.
First of all, its’ performance. With the Amlogic S922X-H SoC (system on a chip), six cores of processing are leveraged to provide outstanding performance in both streaming and gaming applications, making this a highly versatile android box for IPTV, android games and emulation.
On top of the 4k display output via HDMI, the GT King Pro also supports dolby DTS sound, providing you with an immersive audio experience for your home theater setup. Hear the full range of sounds, highs, and lows with this premium android TV box.
A unique feature of the GT King Pro is the presence of an RS232 port. While not really practical for the average user, it is interesting to know that the device can be connected to industrial machinery if necessary, giving it more viability in niche setups.
The metal shell of the GT King Pro is also highly appealing. With a cool, matte blue finish that gives it a unique yet subdued appearance.
If you’re looking for an android box that has comparable performance to the GT King Pro, but don’t want to pay extra for bells and whistles that you probably won’t use, there’s no better option than the GT King Pro as of 2021.
