ANBERNIC RG351M Retro Gaming Handheld

Fantastic machine for fantastic value. Needed to get a replacement wifi dongle but only £8. The screen is amazing and makes everything so much better. Very highly recommended.

Fantastic piece of kit. All games work great. And still plenty of space on the SD card to add more titles too.

I bought this device to emulate GameBoy and SNES classics. But it’s capable of so much more! With ArkOS I can flawlessly emulate most games up to PSP. Best part is there are many options to play my beloved DOS classics - ScummVM, DosBoxPure and the glorious PortMaster. Oh, and the LCD with native 640 x 480 resolution is simply perfect, you can’t imagine how great Heroes of Might and Magic 2 looks on this thing. My personal best buy of 2021.

This is my first dedicated retro handheld and I'm blown away by it. The metal enclosure feels premium and gives it a nice weight (not too heavy, but you probably wouldn't carry it a shirt pocket). Everything I expected to work has done, and even some games I expected not to work have done better than I thought. For example, Jet Set Radio for dreamcast even seems playable (although it does have minor hitching). Every PS1, SNES and GBA title has been flawless.

Also I was plesently suppried by the inclusion of a 64GB SD card for games, which I don't remember being mentioned in the product description (although I may have just missed it).

I can't comment on the default out-of-the-box experiance as I flashed AmberElec on it before I even turned it on, but that's so easy to do there's no reason not to.

Minor negatives: the wifi dongle is a bit unweildy with the USB C to A adapter. I only use wifi for scrapping and transfering games, so it's not been a big deal so far.

The lack of bluetooth conectivity for audio is also a shame as I no longer have any wired headphones.

Despite these minor gripes I'm going to leave the review as 5 star, because I knew about both of these issues before I bought it, and (so far) it's delivered everything it promised to.

Fantastic device from the size to the performance, everything is just what I wanted and more.

I must say the build quality of the RG351M is fantastic, solidly built and the buttons feel great. Unfortunately as I have big hands, it’s a little difficult to comfortably play and this is where Droix have been amazing. I emailed their customer support and they recommend the RG351V, after checking a few videos online, decided on replacing the 351M with the RG351V and now the return is being processed and I’m eagerly awaiting the V (in gameboy grey) with a partial refund. I can’t fault the RG351M but if you have larger hands, it may be best to check the V first and I also can’t fault Droix for their after sales support and will be definitely using this company in the future.

I love this machine its re-united me with some old school classics i have not seen in a long time. My only problem is that the metal can feel a little awkward to hold for hold for longer periods of time. I wish id gone with the plastic version. Thats just me though. Other than that though 99/100

bought an anbernic RG351m as i have been wanting to play advance wars again recently while i was away from the computer. did alot of research before settling on this, and i am soo glad i did. the feel of this device is a premium metal feel and well built. you can tell anbernic has put alot of care and attention into creating this baby. the buttons are as good as any first party controller you would get on a console and it feels great in the hand. really happy with this device. well worth it.
