The GPD WIN Max 2021 is a revolutionary handheld gaming PC that combines the best features of GPD’s Win 2 and Micro PC. This ultrabook is designed to deliver top-notch performance for both gaming and productivity. Powered by an Intel 10th Gen Core ™ i5-1035G7 CPU with an integrated 11th Gen Intel Iris Plus Graphics 940, this Windows 10 handheld offers excellent performance in any scenario.

The 8 inch H-IPS display with a 10 point touch screen is stunning. With a brightness of 500 nits and DC dimming without flickering, it remains bright when needed and transitions seamlessly when not. This screen is perfect not only for gaming but also for work applications such as Photoshop that require a high-quality display.

GPD has done an excellent job of combining the ultrabook PC with gaming handheld layouts in the design of the WIN Max. The base features a QWERTY chiclet-style full keyboard layout with backlight and a built-in touchpad that supports gestures with up to three-fingers and push-down operations.

The high-quality Japan Alps manufactured dual analogue sticks are clickable for L3/R3 buttons. The double layer silk-printed ABXY gaming buttons are comfortable for extended gaming sessions. The L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons have highly-reliable Panasonic micro switches. This works as a Microsoft Xbox controller and usually requires no additional setting up on this mini laptop with platforms such as Steam, GoG, or Epic Games.

Connectivity is another highlight of the WIN Max. The new WiFi 6 802.11ax standard supports up to 300Mb/sec transfer rate, and Bluetooth 5 supports up to seven connections, ensuring fast and reliable wireless connectivity. Wired connectivity is equally impressive, with an HDMI 2.0b port providing high-quality output to a TV or monitor, an RJ45 Ethernet port for high-speed data transfer, two USB Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 port, and a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 2 port for connecting high-speed USB devices. You can also find one Micro SDXC slot for high-speed card access.

The GPD WIN Max supports eGFX via the Thunderbolt 3 interface, allowing you to connect an external graphics card solution to further improve graphics quality and performance. More details on this will be provided in the future. The USB Type-C port also serves as the charging port. The GPD Win MAX portable laptop comes with a 65W Super Mini GaN Charger measuring just 36x75mm, the world’s smallest 65W power adapter. Three 5000mAh 57Wh rechargeable batteries provide long-lasting battery life on one charge.

I bought GPD WIN MAX 2 2024 Handheld PC for Gaming
Configuration:64GB LPDDR5X / 4TB NVMe PCIE 4.0 2280
4G LTE:NO

I'm not satisfied, the Configuration is too high but the function is like a very weak laptop, the speed of the process of my current laptop with half of this configuration is much better than this.

Also, I paid 25% taxes for this which makes this product not reasonable to buy.

What should I do now?

Jack of All Trades

This device tries to do it all, and it mostly pulls it off. Performance is great for both work and games. The screen is a good size, and the keyboard feels nice. But it's a bit too bulky for casual gaming on the go. It's pricey, but worth it if you're replacing a few devices. Battery life could be better, though, especially for its size.

Best portable pc I’ve had

Honestly the best handheld portable pc I’ve owned in a while. The sleek design (even tho it’s a bit chunky on the sides) is really easy to handle, powerful enough to open most of the things you need and with the gpd g1 egpu it is honestly a power house (if you can config the drivers right). Besides some heavy triple A games everything runs smooth and as advertised. The joystick and button config is comfortable enough and the touch screen helps even though mousepad is in an awkward place. I’d recommend this even if you have a pc or a gaming laptop. I just replaced my huge gaming pc with this because I travel a lot and I couldn’t be happier.

Excellent

Fantastic little device. Droix shipping was super fast and it worked great right out of the box for me. I love how versatile this thing is. The keyboard is just at the small edge of what I'm comfortable typing with, but it works well and you get used to it quickly. The trackpad being at the top is kind of weird but you get used to it, or you use a mouse. I view it more as "it's there if you need it."

Some people have issue with the thumbsticks but I think they're perfect if what you want is a tiny gaming laptop that has a bonus gamepad built in. If you're looking for a gamepad-first gaming device that can also do some occasional laptop stuff you should probably look at one of the other GPD devices.

I really appreciate how easy it is to get inside the device and how it comes with a port for a 2230 m.2 drive - that makes it super easy to dual-boot for your different use cases. For me, I ended up installing Bazzite on the second drive and have been using that extensively for gaming and productivity.

I really wish you could buy one pre-made, but the only place that sells them is on aliexpress and their "leather" is a lot more like felt.

Tiny but Powerful

This thing is a power house with exceptionally solid construction. Using the OcuLink and USB4 ports you can get desktop like power/expansion, without sacrificing the insane portability. I only wish the display was a higher refresh rate, but if that lets it keep the amazing battery life it's a small price to pay.

Amazing little powerhouse

I was looking for a small laptop and was impressed by the GPD's tech specs. After carefully reading a lot of reviews about the disappointing quality and lack of customer support, I've decided to find a trusted retailer – the unit I received from DroiX was perfect – not even a single dead pixel, and 2 year warranty.

Exactly everything that I wanted.

Exactly everything that I wanted. I had the GPD Win 4 and while it is a great device, I found myself carrying around a 10" portable monitor, compact keyboard, mouse, dock, and all its cables and connecting all that up fairly often. I guess I'm not too much of a handheld gamer and more of a productivity person. It was then that I decided that the Max 2 was going to be more suitable for my needs. It is so nice to finally have everything that I was carrying around all in one machine. Having magnetic controller covers is just icing on the cake, especially since they can be stored in the machine itself!

Despite the pictures, the machine is purple. This is easier to see in videos. Think iPhone 14 Pro Deep Purple, but maybe less saturated?

The performance is great and is what I expected. Games like Valorant can get 60fps a good chunk of the time. The screen is very nice since it's slightly taller than 1080p.

Also, don't be alarmed, but the ports are upside down: HDMI, SD Card Reader, USB-A (and honestly, probably the USB-C ports as well).

Overall, I am very happy with this device. I'll still use the Win 4, but this is going to be my main go to.

Great hybrid laptop

I’ve owned several GPD devices (Win Max, Pocket, Pocket 3, Win 4, and Win Max 2) and the Win Max 2 is definitely a great hybrid device! If you like gaming primarily using mouse and keyboard with occasional controller use, this is the best device.

Will you be getting any 64GB versions of the 2024 GPD Win Max 2 back in stock? I noticed it wasn’t even listed as a “sold out” option in the configuration selector so I wondered if that variation is no longer even an option going forward.
