RG280V Retro Gaming Console ANBERNIC

After having this lovely console for a few weeks I can safely say it is well worth it. I love playing it, I love holding it, I love looking at it, it's thoroughly excellent.

I would like to mention the control options as I was curious myself. Everything up to PS1 is amazing, but when you start getting into PS1 games that need frequent use of all the shoulder buttons I do find it tricky. It's certainly doable - I've been playing Descent PS1 which is a six degrees of freedom shooter, so it does require a lot of control. This little console can do it well, even without the analogue sticks, but pressing the L2 and R2 buttons frequently can get tiring on the hands so it's not great for longer sessions. You can just switch over to another game when your fingers get tired, of course.

It's also worth noting that some PS1 games are not as generous with they key rebinding as Descent is. For example, Quake 2 only offers a few options so you are left with looking up and down using L2 and R2 as possiblity the best option. What's remarkable is that there are so few PS1 games that really suffer from a lack of analogue sticks, and in those cases you can still make do even if it is not ideal. This leaves you with a huge range of games that play excellently in a compact handheld that I am still amazed by. The slight control sacrifices are absolutely worth it for the vast majority of games that are not affected.

I thought that the 280V might just be pushing it a bit in terms of it's limited physical size, but it works brilliantly. It may not have the screen resolution of the 350M, but it is is sharp enough, bright and works well for emulating the old handhelds. I use the mainly as my 'new Gameboy' or as an excellent way to play Atari Lynx.

The build quality is great, solid and the Famicom styling is very nice indeed.

Perfect pocket gaming on the go.

Who would have thought that taking a Single Board Computer with a (long in the tooth) dual-core processor, (just) 512 MB RAM, a (decent) 320x240 display and a (beautifully tactile) d-pad could reincarnate lost childhoods. Such a brilliant product!

I have being looking for the Anbernic RG280V some time but it was only available on AliExpress with lot of in side shops selling the handheld no Anbernic RG280V brand on the front of the handheld so it’s was clear that it was copy of the original well known websites that i will not name was the next choice but most was from China and same copy of the real one and expensive.I then googel a shop called DroiX.I didn’t want to open page because i thought it was Chinese shop how many times i past by the web page i don’t know just a thew weeks ago just open the page by chance to see and to my surprise handhelds with £ currency wait a minute is this a Uk shop i got very excited jumping around in my living room how did i miss this all months searching for the Anbernic RG280V and here it is a Uk website selling all the handhelds and some amazing stuff you can buy with confidence.I bought the RG280V and was delivered super fast you made a 40 year old very happy the handheld is just amazing with sd card and tons of games seriously this was money worth spending I am a happy 40 year old retro gamer sorry for passing by the website now i know if a new retro handheld comes out first stop is DroiX.You Rock!!!!!!!10/10

I actually can't quite believe how much joy I've got out of this in the week or so I've owned it. Lovely to hold, ridiculously portable, everything seems to just work. Worked my way through my childhood Game Boy collection and now exploring some PS1 and SNES games. I love it to bits and am very happy I decided to go for it.

Fantastic little hand held,great screen and totally portable. Comes with an extra sd card with plenty of games to keep you occupied for a very long time.

I love that I can now play all the great retro titles that I use to love. The unit is very well built and I have the gold version that looks great. I'm more interested in this now over my ps4. The delivery was first class. I love this company and will buy again I'm sure from them.

Received the product in super quick time! Chose this as my birthday present and couldn’t be happier - straight out of the box I was able to revisit my childhood memories as well as exploring uncharted territory. The device itself is stunning and I love the famicon retro styling - it feels so premium with the metal plate and glass screen.

If you have big hands i would definetly avoid buying this the shoulder buttons are to high up makes it very hard especially on games like Metal Gear Solid only buy if your a collector i would reccomend the RG351P there best console yet.

This is a brilliant device and actually bigger than it looks on YouTube.
The screen is actually a little bigger than the 280m when side by side. The perfect pocket machine.
Droix service was first rate and I’ll be buying more in the near future.
